Update from Linc's mom

Lincoln hasn't been able to sit still long enough over the past 2 weeks in order to tell me what to type so I thought I'd type this week's blog.

I can't believe my little boy is 9 months old already. Remember when he was only this big?

... when he was born 6 weeks early, 5lbs and 18 inches long...

... when he finally came home and had his first bath time?

And look how big he is now! At his 9 month Dr. appt he was up to 17lbs 12 oz and is 29 inches tall!

He's already pulling himself up on everything he can get his hands on in order to stand. He crawls wherever he wants to go. He has a monster appetite. No teeth yet, but he's really starting to gnaw on things so they might finally start coming in. He has stood without holding onto anything for a few seconds without falling. He amazes me every single day with some new thing he figured out how to do. I am very grateful to my husband for working so hard (especially in 115 degree heat) to make sure I can stay home with our son. I can't imagine missing out on this experience.

Where have I been lately? EVERYWHERE!!! I figured out how to crawl forward and I've been on the go ever since. Dad says I'm like a monster truck, just crawling and climbing all over everything. Nothing can stop me now!

I pulled myself up on a box to play at a higher altitude. The air really is better up here.

It's hard work crawling everywhere. I have to take micro naps along the way.

I'm a stud!

Mom picked up my pictures yesterday! Actually, I should say portraits since they're the hand held kind. Let me know if you'd like one and I'll mail it over to you. If you're really lucky I might even deliver it personally! I have a whole bunch of different ones. I'm not gonna try to post any on here though... I want to keep my adorable shots a surprise for the people that want some. And besides, I heard things are more valuable when they're exclusive and I want to make sure I stay valuable.

And by the way people, I need a play date in the worst way! I miss all my friends. And now that most of us are sort of mobile, I heard about a game called "tag" and I think we need to play it.

We stopped by Gran-Papa Milt's work on Monday for a visit. Mom thinks this picture is funny because we have the same look on our faces.

I practiced some steps that night

I attempt to crawl forward all the time now... carpet burn sucks though! That's why I whine... not cause it's hard, I swear. ;-)

Tuesday and Wednesday we tried to make dad a Father's Day gift. "Tried" and failed miserably and messily. Mom didn't take any pictures of our catastrophic failure though. I think she's trying to forget about it.

Thursday we went to have pictures taken of me! Again, the idea was that it'd be a Father's Day gift but they won't be ready in time so there goes that idea. I asked mom why we would go have pictures made instead of just trading them on the computer like we always do. She said, "because your dad can't put a laptop in his wallet". So sometime next week I'll have some pictures of me you can actually hold in your hand! I'm pretty excited. Mom said she's going to put some on the wall in my house. We'll have some extras if anyone wants some, just let me know!

So much fun!

On Saturday I went to visit grandma AND grandpa! He had the day off!

It was so much fun! We played nonstop... and when I say nonstop, I mean NONSTOP!

I even got to go swimming!

And that was just the start of my weekend! Dad took off on Sunday and today for his birthday! I think he turned 6... maybe 7. I'm not sure... I just know he's old. But anyway, we got to hang out all day long! He even helped me walk around the living room, taught me how to eat snacks all by myself, and played with me for hours! It was the greatest day EVER yesterday! I'm so excited to see what happens today!

Birthday Party!

I went to a birthday party this weekend! My friend Kylie turned 3 years old! It was such a cool party. Here she is opening up some presents. Look who's sitting in the chair! It's DAD! Kylie is his friend too and he said he couldn't miss out on her birthday fun!



They had so many different kinds of pools set up for the party! It was SOOOO awesome! There was a pool with a slide, a little pool with sprinklers around the edge, and a bunch more!

This was my favorite pool.

I even got to play with a water gun!

But then I got hungry so I had to get out and eat. Mom said she was afraid I'd stick even more fingers in my mouth if she didn't feed me right then.

I had such a good time. I even stayed up until 8pm! Kylie's parents were so nice. They set up a playpen for me to sleep in so mom and dad didn't have to leave super early. And they even had a GLOW WORM! It was just like home! I fell right asleep. I can't wait for someone else to have a birthday party!

It's one of those days!

It's one of those days in the house... you know... the kind that start off weird and stay weird.

First, my cat found a new bed...

I'll let her have her fun for now, but if she thinks I'll run around in public with daisy dukes on she's crazy!

All this madness and it's only 8:16am. It might not be a bad day to take lots of naps... I'm a little nervous about what else might happen if I stay awake!

Good words and bad words

All sorts of stuff!

Auntie Shannon left yesterday and I'm very sad. She was so much fun! I love it when she laughs and acts silly with me. I really hope she comes back soon.

I'm a little confused though... I heard mom and Auntie Shannon joking in a silly sing-song voice "she has your last name but is nobody's sister"! I don't get it.

But speaking of last names... did you know I'm related to Squidward from the Sponge Bob show?! His middle name is my last name! His creator - I guess that means his dad - had my last name so when he named Squidward, he made his middle name my last name. Can you believe it!? He just said his full name the other day on the show. Shannon and mommy both looked at each other in disbelief and checked the computer. I wonder if he'll come visit me...

In other news, I can suck on my foot thumbs now! Mom says I'm "bendy". They don't taste as good as my other thumbs though.

And did you know my mom can do magic? She put some magic in a bottle with some water to make me something neat to play with for a little while. Check it out!

Pretty cool huh? I wonder if she can make the dogs glow like that...

Soooo busy!

Yesterday I was SOOOO busy! Grandma invited me over to play all afternoon. It was so much fun! I played nonstop. When we left, I settled in for a nice long nap in my carseat but mom had another suprise for me... we stopped to see Papa Milt on the way home! Holy cow!

I was all tuckered out by the time we got in the car to go home. I was in such a deep sleep that the next thing I knew, I was waking up in my crib in the morning! I don't think I've ever slept that hard!

It was a great day!

In other news, I had my very first babysitter yesterday! Auntie Shannon offered to watch me while mommy enjoyed her mother's day gift... a nice massage! Mommy said she really needed it because I've been such a Mr. Cranky Pants this week. In my own defense, I've got a sore butt. You try being charming with a sore butt! Not gonna happen!

Chock full o' nuts!

I have had one crazy week!

On Tuesday, I got to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa!

Then on Wednesday I got to hang out with Gran-Papa Milt and Auntie Shannon. Shannon kept telling me how cute I am and Gran-Papa Milt made funny noises to make me smile. Mom forgot to take pictures though, so you'll just have to take my word for it. On Thursday I brought dad some lunch at the shop. Mom is still trying to fatten him up. I don't have the heart to tell her it's not working.

I had all sorts of accomplishments this week too! I hold my own bottle most of the time now... unless I'm feeling lazy and keep dropping it until mom will hold it. I learned that if I roll over, I can GET PLACES! That's right! When I see toys next to me but just out of reach, I learned that I can reach them to play with them by rolling over. So now I'm rolling over all over the place just in case there might be a toy wherever I end up.

This time I found a book!

And did you know I can play with my toys while sitting up now? Look! Look!

There is a downside to playing sitting up though...

...sometimes I get sleepy

... very sleepy

ok, not just very sleepy. I actually fall asleep.

Dad sometimes falls asleep while sitting up and he stays upright. I'll have to remember to ask him for some pointers.

Hic... hic... Hiccup!

Is it ok for a mom to call her kid a drunk monkey?

Yeah, yeah... I know. I couldn't keep my balance and I had crazy hiccups. But the "monkey" part was just uncalled for!

OH MY GOSH! It finally happened!

Teeth? Nope. I'm not looking forward to those. I got something WAAAYYYYY better... my first mode of transportation!

I think it might be stuck in reverse though. I'm gonna have to take it down to the shop to get checked out. While I'm at it, I'll probably stop at Autozone to look for some new rims and offroad tires, Best Buy for a new "Hunny Pot" music system, and then I'll stop by dad's shop for a roll cage. Gotta stay safe when I go wheelin'!

Hooray for naps!

There's no toy in the world that makes me happier than my blanket. And when you combine a blanket with naptime... man... it's just the greatest!

Whirlwind Wednesday!

I had such a fun day today! My friends were all able to get together for a play date! We originally planned to have our first swimming pool party but it turned out I brought my special underpants for nothing... it was too cold to swim today. But when I did a headcount, swimming became the last thing on my mind...
We have a new friend!!! Her name is Grace and she is 3 weeks old! I liked her immediately and decided to hold her hand.



Look how big we look next to little 8 pound Grace! I can't believe how far we've all come. Logahn already has his first tooth. Lilly is becoming quite the lady and is actually a smidge taller than I am right now. And I'm eating food off a spoon! Who knows what we'll be into by our next play date. Logahn, with legendary strength, will probably be able to bench press his own weight. Lilly, with those killer proportions, will probably get offered multiple modeling gigs. I'll probably ditch that spoon all together and become known as Master of the Spork. And little Grace... well... she'll probably be able to stay awake for our play date photo session by then.


After my play date, mommy took me to see her friends at work. I got to see my other girlfriend, Sherrie. She likes to eat my toes and makes fun noises that make me giggle! She's so nice. I have a bunch of other friends over there too! They liked to hold me, help me stand up, and tell me how cute I am... until I started crying that is. I couldn't help it! I was SOOOO tired and all the excitement of seeing so many people today was just overwhelming! I needed a nap and there wasn't a crib in sight... in fact... I need a nap.... right.... now... zzzzzzzzzzzz

Spoons

Is a spoon a you-tensil? Not anymore! Now it's an I-tensil!

Hair, bottles and.... dog food?!

When I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror, I was shocked by what I saw!

LOOK AT ALL THE HAIR ON MY HEAD!

Can you see them all? All those hairs I grew? I grew them myself!

Once I stopped checking out my amazing, shiny locks of hair (did I mention I grew them myself!) I decided it was time to eat.

When I'm almost done with my bottle, I like to hold it and feed myself the last of it.

I think it's fun to stick it in my mouth... then pull it out... then stick it back in... then pull it out... then stick it back in...

...and then get bored and throw it away.

Once I got bored with the bottle, I told mom I needed something a little heavier to eat. I was thinking of something like sweet potatoes or squash... heck, I would have even been happy with green beans at that particular moment. But no. No such luck. Have you ever heard of something called "beef"? They should really call it "barf" instead of "beef". It's the worst vegetable I've ever tasted or smelled in my whole entire life. And now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think that was a vegetable at all! In fact, I don't think it was even baby food! I think a Beech Nut supply truck must have gotten in an accident with a Purina supply truck and their cargo got mixed up. That must be what happened. Think it's just my imagination? Take a look:

One of these bowls contains something that came out of a baby food jar and the other bowl contains something that came out of a dog food can. If you were babysitting me and these 2 bowls were left on the kitchen counter for dinner, which one would you feed to me and which one would you give to the dogs? Look them over... take your time. The one on the right or the one on the left?

Those of you who decided to feed me the bowl on the right just fed me canned dog food.

So I guess that means you should feed me the bowl on the left, huh?

WRONG!

When you can't tell the difference between baby food and dog food, the correct answer is to give them both to the dog and then search the cabinets for something you're not afraid to put in your own mouth.

Stop and think before giving your kid something that seems off.. it really might be baby food... but then again, it could actually be dog food... and even worse still, it could be Soylent Green!

Dr Appointment

I went to see my doctor Wednesday. Can you believe I'm 6 months old already?! Holy cow!

Unlike last time, I was ready for my nurse to do what she had to do... I assumed the temperature-taking position.

Even though I have a little cold, there's no fever. I was a comfortable 98.6 degrees. Then she measured me. I'm 25.75 inches tall... I'll be riding roller coasters before you know it! And I'm 15 lbs 1 oz! All that oatmeal really helped me pack on the pounds. I jumped up to the 25th percentile now instead of being in the 5th! Hooray for me!

After the nurse did all her measurements, I got to hang out with the doctor. I like him a lot. Since I screamed so much at the last visit I thought I'd go easy on him this time.

I was such a good boy at this appointment. I didn't even cry when they gave me my shots. I gave one little yelp and that was it. Mommy was very proud of me.

Nap time!

I'm a genius

I decided it was the right time to let mommy know I'm a genius. Let me start from the beginning and set the scene for you...


1) the light in my room is on the ceiling


2) my play mat is directly under this bright light


3) to play with my octopus hanging above me I have to LOOK UP TOWARDS THIS BRIGHT LIGHT


4) staring at bright light makes me see spots


5) apparently my mom doesn't care if I see spots


6) so I took matters into my own hands

I decided I had enough of the spots. I took the cloth I love to chew on and turned it into a high tech eye protector. Now I can play with my octopus without going blind in the process.

And I'm happy to report my octopus no longer has spots.
